Midnight in Tokyo by Kike Congrains

I tried to capture the kinetic energy of manga and anime in a series of collages that use typography merely as a graphic element, regardless of its meaning. Each collage responds to a color palette and mood, with little stories that can be found within its crowded exterior.

Enrique "Kike" Congrains is collage artist from Lima, Peru. He has shown his work in exhibitions in Peru, as well as Argentina, Spain, England, Hong Kong, and Norway at the Scandinavian Collage Museum. He’s the founder and curator of CollageWave, an annual show for established and emerging Peruvian collagists. He gave presentations at Kolaj Fest 2018 and 2019 in New Orleans. He Curated Issue 7 of Cut Me Up magazine and won the Kolaj Institue 2020 Grant. He teaches collage workshops to underprivileged kids and is currently writing a book on Latin American collage.
