Documentation: Memories Attached by Anne Misfeldt
My work is about the relationship between people and our stories. We all have stories and memories to share. Our stories are often layered and infused with complex emotions, triumphs and tragedies. As a collage artist, I take inspiration from, say, a moment captured on a photograph and transform it into a visual poem that, hopefully, speaks to humanity. In the series “Documentation” it is all photographs of people taking photographs, documenting. I don ́t have the other picture that was taken so that’s up to me and the viewer to imagine what happened on the other side of the camera.
Anne Misfeldt is a collage artist living and working in Aarhus, Denmark.
She is a graduate of the Designskolen Kolding in Denmark and has been illustrating design for both printed and woven textiles for many years. At present, she works as an artist, an illustrator, and art educator. Her work has been widely published and exhibited on multiple platforms across the globe.
With my love for the tactile feel of materials, I work primarily in analog collage. I use found and vintage materials such as old papers, books, magazines, and archival/vintage photographs. In my work as a collage artist, I strive to create a connection between the materials and images. The process can begin with a word, a letter, or a found photo with an “unknown” story — almost anything that sparks the imagination.
