Unconscious Collage by Soraia Aguirre
The introspective view is at the heart of my pieces. I reflect, trying to fully understand the individual complexity of and around femininity and being a woman. Showing an intimate point of view, my ultimate desire is to decipher the “unconscious” that guides our reactions within the community.
Through my art I seek to understand these internal workings and bring them out so as to find a common thread and dialog, without judgement or disharmony. The analog collage process allows me to analyze, connect and recreate these micro-internal worlds.
Soraia Aguirre finished her studies in Plastic Arts specializing in Garden Design at Kunsthal (San Sebastian, Spain, 2009). While in university, she worked with diverse, multidisciplinary groups for design and architecture, concentrating in research, concept and project identity. She moved to Sydney in 2010, where she focused on deepening her personal artistic style and artwork.
Collage has always been up there in her array of interests and her artistic imagination, but it wasn’t until she moved to Torino that she started her collage art. Since 2017, she’s been participating in various collage exhibits and appearing in visual art magazines and poetry magazines, including Kolaj Magazine. She recently opened up a collective artist studio where she holds workshops, technical collage courses, and collaborative creative projects, primarily in Italy and Spain.
