Discovering Poetry in Desolate Places by Miss.Printed

These six Locative Collages are small reflections of poetry in a gray environment, each with a person holding onto a piece of nature. Small paper collages are created and photographed in an outdoor setting, which reinforces the narrative. The papercuts are left onsite, in the hope that they be discovered with delight. The artist says, “In dark times like these, it is sometimes hard to see the beauty of life, but beauty is there, to be found in our connection with nature. The world speaks in flowers.”

Miss.Printed is a Norwegian artist who is filling the gap between collage, photography, and street art. Born in the Netherlands, she worked for many years at Knust, part of ArtHouse Extrapool, on many different projects, mostly with mimeographing print (risoprint). Her passion, since 2014, is “Locative Collage.” This practice places her small paper collages in an outdoor setting, where they are photographed on location, often under adverse conditions. She loves to combine paper elements and its predators: water, fire, snow, wind, and sky. She does not use any form of digital editing. She has had several exhibitions in Norway, Europe and the US. She is the founder of the The Scandinavian Collage Museum, the Collage Garden, and The Collage Club. She often receives messages from people who are inspired by her work to take their own papercuts outside to photograph. This makes her sing out loud from her little red house on a mountain in Norway.
