Primary Exercises (Series) by Laura Macias

For more than 23 years in my home library, the notebooks that accompanied me in my childhood have remained. From time to time I look at them with nostalgia: what I liked and what I did not like. The remains of those years—much of my essence is still there, embodied in those primary exercises.

Cara de Gato (Laura Macias) is a graphic designer from Lasalle College. She specialized in motion graphics in Argentina and when she returned to Colombia she founded "Mágica" design and photography studio together with her brother Alejandro Macias.

In search of getting out of the daily routine, she found manual collage five years ago and fell in love with being able to decontextualize images and searching the memories of others. In 2017, together with two other collage artists, she founded the Colombian collective "Red Collage," a community focused on promoting, visualizing and creating ties to collage in Colombia.

Currently, collage is part of her daily life both at work and personally, which has allowed her to be part of different publications and exhibitions in Colombia, Spain, Mexico and the USA.
