To a Distant Solid Past by Jay Berrones

The group of work To a Distant Solid Past is a practice in boldness and simplicity. Elements include more solid color than photographic subjects with intention to convey the efficacy of messages meant to be vague but emotional - the same way a baby stares at objects for the first time in its life.

Jay Berrones is a collage artist, graphic designer and screen printer living and working in Mexico City, Mexico. He's a self-taught ethnographer former line cook turned visual problem solver. His newest addiction is the nuanced just-below-the-skin feeling you get when you begin to learn something new. Light bulbs go off that lead to productivity then churn out possibilities. Berrones is an ex-pat native to Houston, Texas. He's lived in Mexico City for the last 3 years where he learned the art of screen printing and gives it his best college try to maintain a screen printing and design studio by the name of TOIL Press. If you can't find him in Mexico, he'll surely always pop up in Portland, Oregon or Wyoming.
