Ivan Halchenko

From the curator, Annete Sagal:

The collage presented here was made by Ivan Halchenko on September 3, 2021 during the event at the CUTOUT COLLAGE STUDIO in Kyiv. It is his one and only collage artwork. In this collage a viewer can see a great sense of color and composition. It invites us to look deeply into the patterns, find gaps and silhouettes, recognize the emotions in the faces. The artwork is light and spacious, even though it is filled with rather complex details. This is a great representation of who the artist was as a person.

In loving memory of a wonderful friend, Ivan Halchenko, I present his collage alongside other prominent Ukrainian artists.

Іван Гальченко (Ivan Halchenko) was born in 1996 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He was a devoted friend, loving son, and a little brother. Highly intelligent, he worked in the IT sphere, had a passion for chess and for music, and loved seeing and making art. On February 25, 2022, he, together with his older brother and father, went to defend the sovereign territories of Ukraine from the terrorist country Russia.

On February 22, 2023, Ivan died near the village of Vodyane, Donetsk region, while on combat duty. He was 26 years old. His father and brother continue to protect Ukraine.
