Homage with Collage by Danielle Krysa
This series of six mixed media collage on paper is my homage to just a few of the female artists who inspire me. Each of them have very distinct styles and personalities, and I wanted to reflect that. I removed each woman from her own environment—from bio photos to install shots—and placed them into a new world using my art style, but in a way that honors their work. Paint strokes, peacock feathers, fake flowers, tiny crystals, painted/cut paper, gold thread, and in the case of Ashley Longshore’s necklace—a big chunk of glass! This series could be huge as there are so many female artists to be celebrated, but for now, I’ll pay my “homage with collage” to these six: Ashley Longshore, Petah Coyne (photo by Christopher Burke Studio), Bisa Butler, Judi Cumming (aka my mom), Calida Rawles, and Martha Rich.
