Mind Machines by Sabine Remy

"Mind Machines" are to be understood in the tradition of dadaistic sound poems. This new series, consisting of six analogous collages on book covers, was created in 2020. For the design of the backgrounds I mainly used material from my bookmark collection, which was bequeathed to me by an antiquarian. The Victorian machines are copperplate engravings from an encyclopedia from 1876. I use letters as compositional elements and carriers of associations.

Sabine Remy is an analog collage artist based in Germany. She mainly uses old books and papers.

Her work has been featured in several international group and solo exhibitions as well as publications. She has also collaborated with collagists and mail artists from all over the world.

For many years, she has dedicated herself exclusively to the medium of paper collage. She appreciates the unpredictability and randomness of working with pictorial elements from different sources. The non-linear narration, which creates new, sometimes strange and bizarre pictorial statements, is her main interest.
