Bridge_fragments by Allan Bealy
Bridge_fragments (01-06) are studies in isolation. The interrupted connectivity that is expected of bridge spans, leading nowhere. An obvious metaphor for our perilous age, they nevertheless suggest what is needed to come together, connect and rebuild.
Allan Bealy is a Canadian artist living and working in Brooklyn. He was a member of Vehicule Art, the Montreal cooperative art and performance space in the 70s and has had solo shows in Montreal, New York and Sweden as well as being represented in numerous group shows. Allan published the arts journal DaVinci while in Montreal and Benzene, an arts magazine after moving to New York in the 80s. He has spent the last 30 years as a graphic designer and art director, from which he has recently retired. He continues to publish, under the Benzene Editions imprint. His book of collages, Le Reve, has recently been published by Redfox Press in Ireland. Interviews with Bealy can be read online at the Paris Collage Collective and Unseen Sketchbooks sites.
